The goal of Cycling for Change is to reduce poverty in America one mile at a time – 5,052 miles to be exact!
Along the way, the Catholic Charities cycle team will rally with local communities, sharing the message – and challenge! – of reducing poverty by 50% by the year 2020.
From Cape Flattery to Key West, the team led by Jesuit priest Matt Ruhl, will bring important awareness to the local effects of poverty in the communities they visit from May 29 to September 5, 2010. These communities will be invited to use the Cycling for Change ride to highlight issues of poverty in their area - and more importantly, commit to the challenge to implement changes that would reduce poverty in their neighborhoods.
These coast-to-coast events will complement the teams efforts to raise significant funds for poverty-reduction programs and the dream to open a comprehensive services facility for Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph.
Please note that the route is subject to change due to weather, road conditions, and logistical plans. The page will be continually updated as Memorial Day 2010 nears.
